IKEv2 VPN Configuration Guide

Step-by-step instructions for Windows, macOS and Android

Before You BeginYou'll need your VPN credentials from HighProxies. Check your welcome email or client dashboard for:
  • Server Address (e.g., vpn.highproxies.com)
  • Username
  • Password
  • Pre-shared Key (PSK) if applicable

Windows 10/11 IKEv2 VPN Setup

Open VPN Settings

Navigate to Windows Settings and access the VPN configuration panel.

  • Press Windows Key + I to open Settings
  • Click on Network & Internet
  • Select VPN from the left sidebar
  • Click Add a VPN connection

Configure VPN Connection

Fill in the VPN connection details with your HighProxies credentials.

Important:Check the "Remember my sign-in info" box if you want to connect automatically without entering credentials each time.

Advanced Settings (Optional)

For enhanced security or specific requirements, configure advanced options.

  • After creating the connection, click on it and select Advanced options
  • Under Authentication, you can configure:
    • EAP authentication
    • Pre-shared key (if provided by HighProxies)
  • Enable Use my sign-in info automatically for seamless connections

Connect to VPN

Establish your VPN connection.

  • Click the Network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner)
  • Select your HighProxies VPN connection
  • Click Connect
  • Wait for the connection to establish (usually takes 5-10 seconds)
Connection Successful:When connected, you'll see "Connected" status under your VPN connection name. Your internet traffic is now routed through HighProxies servers.

Troubleshooting Windows Connection Issues

  • Error 809: Check your firewall settings and ensure UDP ports 500 and 4500 are open
  • Authentication failed: Verify your username and password are correct
  • Can't connect: Ensure your internet connection is active and the server address is correct
  • Slow connection: Try connecting to a different server location if available

macOS IKEv2 VPN Setup

Open Network Preferences

Access the macOS network configuration panel.

  • Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner
  • Select System Settings (macOS Ventura+) or System Preferences (older versions)
  • Click on Network
  • Click the + button at the bottom of the connection list to add a new connection

Create VPN Interface

Set up a new VPN connection interface.

Configure Connection Settings

Enter your HighProxies VPN credentials and server information.

Server Address: [Your HighProxies server address]
Remote ID: [Usually same as server address]
Local ID: [Leave blank or enter if provided]
Authentication Settings:Click on Authentication Settings... button to configure your credentials.
  • Select Username as the authentication method
  • Enter your HighProxies username
  • Enter your HighProxies password
  • If provided, enter the Shared Secret (PSK)
  • Click OK

Apply Configuration

Finalize your VPN setup.

  • Check Show VPN status in menu bar for easy access
  • Click Apply to save your settings
Optional - Route All Traffic:To ensure all traffic goes through the VPN, click Advanced... and check "Send all traffic over VPN connection" under the Options tab.

Connect to VPN

Establish your VPN connection.

  • Click Connect in the Network preferences window, or
  • Click the VPN icon in the menu bar (if enabled)
  • Select Connect HighProxies VPN
Connection Successful:The VPN icon in your menu bar will show as connected, and you'll see connection time displayed. Your traffic is now secured through HighProxies.

Troubleshooting macOS Connection Issues

  • Connection timeout: Verify the server address is correct and doesn't include "https://" or trailing slashes
  • Authentication failed: Double-check your credentials and ensure Remote ID matches the server address
  • Certificate errors: Contact HighProxies support for certificate verification issues
  • Connection drops: Disable "Disconnect when switching user accounts" in Advanced settings if applicable

Android IKEv2 VPN Setup

Open VPN Settings

Access VPN configuration from your Android device settings.

  • Open SettingsNetwork & InternetVPN
  • Tap Add VPN or the + icon
  • Select IKEv2/IPSec PSK or IKEv2/IPSec MSCHAPv2 depending on your device

Enter VPN Information

Fill in the connection fields using your HighProxies credentials.

Tip:If your phone doesn't support native IKEv2, install the strongSwan VPN Client app from Google Play and follow the same credentials.

Save and Connect

After entering all details, tap Save.

  • From the VPN list, tap your new HighProxies VPN profile
  • Tap Connect
  • Allow VPN permissions when prompted
Connection Successful:When connected, a key icon appears in the status bar. Your device traffic is now encrypted and routed through HighProxies servers.

Troubleshooting Android Connection Issues

  • Can't connect: Verify server address and credentials
  • Authentication failed: Re-enter username, password, and PSK correctly
  • Disconnected frequently: Disable battery saver or data optimization for the VPN app
  • No IKEv2 option: Use strongSwan VPN Client from Google Play
