How to Configure FoxyProxy in Chrome and Firefox

FoxyProxy is a free browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that lets you add proxies once and switch between them in two clicks, without touching system-wide network settings. This guide shows how to install it, add your HighProxies private proxies, route only selected websites through a proxy, verify the connection and fix the most common errors.

Quick answer: install FoxyProxy from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons, open Options, go to Proxies, click Add, enter the proxy type, IP address, port, username and password from your HighProxies client area, click Save, then select the proxy from the FoxyProxy toolbar menu. Never share your proxy credentials. The values above are documentation examples. Anyone with your IP, port, username and password can use your dedicated proxies.

Step 1: Install FoxyProxy

Google Chrome

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Search for FoxyProxy and open the extension published by FoxyProxy.
  3. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
  4. Click the puzzle icon in the toolbar and pin FoxyProxy so it stays visible.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox Add-ons.
  2. Search for FoxyProxy Standard.
  3. Click Add to Firefox, then Add.
  4. Optional: allow the extension in private windows if you browse privately.

Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave and Opera can install FoxyProxy from the Chrome Web Store as well. The setup steps below are identical.

Step 2: Add Your HighProxies Proxy

  1. Click the FoxyProxy icon in the toolbar and choose Options.
  2. Open the Proxies tab and click Add.
  3. Fill in the fields exactly as shown in your client area:
    • Title: a name you will recognise, for example HighProxies US 01
    • Type: HTTP (or SOCKS5 if you ordered SOCKS5 proxies)
    • Hostname: your proxy IP, for example 203.0.113.10
    • Port: your proxy port, for example 8080
    • Username and Password: from your service details
  4. Optionally pick a colour and country so the proxy is easy to identify in the menu.
  5. Click Save.

Choose HTTP, not HTTPS. HighProxies HTTP proxies already handle HTTPS websites securely through the CONNECT method. The HTTPS type in FoxyProxy means an encrypted connection to the proxy server itself, which standard HTTP proxies do not expect and which causes connection errors.

Step 3: Enable the Proxy

  1. Click the FoxyProxy icon in the toolbar.
  2. Select the proxy you just added. All browser traffic now goes through it.
  3. To stop using the proxy, open the menu again and select Disable.

If the browser asks for a username and password, enter the credentials from your client area. A prompt that keeps reappearing means the credentials are wrong or contain a typo.

Step 4: Verify the Connection

  1. Open an IP checker such as WhatIsMyIPAddress.com or ip-api.com.
  2. The displayed IP must match your proxy IP, for example 203.0.113.10.
  3. Check that the location shown matches the proxy location you ordered.

Done. If the IP checker shows your proxy IP, FoxyProxy is configured correctly and your browser traffic is routed through HighProxies.

Use Proxies Only for Specific Websites (Proxy by Patterns)

Routing everything through a proxy is not always what you want. With Proxy by Patterns, FoxyProxy sends only matching websites through the proxy and loads everything else directly.

  1. Go to Options → Proxies and edit your proxy.
  2. Add an include pattern, for example *.example.com with type Wildcard.
  3. Save, then choose Proxy by Patterns from the FoxyProxy toolbar menu.

This is ideal when you manage one marketplace or social account per proxy and want your banking, email and everyday browsing to stay on your own connection.

  • One account, one proxy: keep each social media or marketplace account on the same dedicated IP to avoid suspicious login patterns.
  • Import in bulk: FoxyProxy supports importing proxy lists, which saves time when you manage dozens of IPs.
  • Back up your settings: export your FoxyProxy configuration before reinstalling the browser.
